Apple WWDC 2019

Apple held its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in San Jose on Monday. Of course, Apple did not disappoint us! New Mac Pro, iOS 13, SwiftUI and many many more are expected this fall!

– iOS 13: with the iOS 13 many new things are coming: the long-awaited Dark Mode, Voice control, Find My (a combination of Find My iPhone and Find My Friends). There are a lot of other updates including Memoji upgrades, portrait lighting effects and the ability to rotate and filter videos.

– New Mac Pro – The new Mac Pro starts at $5,999 for the 8-core model with 32 GB of RAM and a 256-GB solid-state drive. That can be configured up to a 28-core model with 1.5 terabytes of RAM. A new monitor called Pro Display XDR monitor is also coming this fall. Here are some of the specs: 31.6 inches diagonal, 6K resolution, low reflectivity with matte screen finish option and Thunderbolt connectivity.

– macOS Catalina 10.15 – in the new MacOS Apple is replacing iTunes with Apple Music, Apple Podcasts and the Apple TV app. There’s a new Sidecar feature which enables users to extend their Mac desktop by using their iPad as a second display. Furthermore, Voice Control lets users control their Mac entirely with their voice.

– iPad- The iPad will have its own operating systems called iPadOS. With it, the iPad will be more like a notebook! The Home screen has been redesigned to take advantage of the large iPad display; a refined layout lets you see more apps. And you can pin useful widgets on the front page. The dark mode is also available here; new keyboard, text editing feature and many more.

– Apple watchOS 6 – With the new OS the Apple Watch will have its own. app store. You can browse, purchase and install right on the watch. There’s a redesigned Health app, hearing monitoring app called Noise, Voice memos, calculator and fitness-tracking updates.

– Swift UI is a new development framework that lets developers specify UI with simple declarations. In this way, hundreds of lines of code are reduced to just a few. The framework provides views, controls, and layout structures for declaring your app’s user interface. And because SwiftUI is the same API built into iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS, developers can quickly and easily build native apps across all Apple platforms.

– You can use RealityKit to import assets, including compositions that you make with the Reality Composer, or build them from meshes, materials, and textures. Furthermore, you can place audio sources in the environment, animate objects (manually or with physics simulations).

– ARKit 3 goes further than ever before, naturally showing AR content in front of or behind people using People Occlusion, tracking up to three faces, supporting collaborative sessions, and more.

– With CreateML you can create and train custom machine learning models on your Mac. You can train models to perform tasks like recognising images, extracting meaning from text, or finding relationships between numerical values. When your model is performing good enough, you’re ready to integrate it into your app using Core ML.
